Slow news day....

Anyone found out any juicy tidbits? I have not heard any news about the Hornet lately and you figure Dodge would be hot and heavy on leaking stuff out to let the world know they have some fuel sippers on the way.

You would think they would, but like I said before, I have no interest in a fuel sipper. If they don't make an SRT version of this car then it's useless to me.

You'd think, but sometimes i question that ability there...maybe they dont want to repeat the CSRT4 stupidity, where they released like 2 years after it had been shown

Sometimes it helps to generate buzz... look at the Challenger. They generated buzz for a long time before release. It is unfortunate that it was timed with such high fuel prices however. One of those things... just a couple of years late :(

Imagine if they had produced the Dodge Razor -- we'd have a small, fuel efficient vehicle to buy right now.

:rocker::jester: fixed it for you ;)

ya, just imagine, maybe chrysler would be in a better situation, maybe, maybe not...i guess we'll never know

:offtopic: hey ekool, can we get rid of the censor on caliberforums that turns passenger into p***enger? (along with every other word that happens to have "ass" in it) Thanks

two years from concept to production isn't bad. Look how long it took them to come out with the production Challenger.

That's because mopar fans and magazines like Motor Trend and Road and Track kept talking about the Challenger. That's what kept it alive and that's why dodge put it into production. I heard nothing about the Calibur from fans or magazine until it was released.

ha ha ya, cause all the reviewers of the caliber thought it was a piece of garbage and so they didnt bother to spend any of their time on it, i mean look at the "reviews" that they gave it after they came out...

I think the fact that Ford was releasing a retro Mustang (current design), and Chevy was releasing a retro Camaro (2009/2010 model year design) had a lot to do with Dodge releasing the retro design of the Challenger (current design).

ya, but i hope they make big bucks off the challenger, IMO they needed the Challenger, but i think that just as much they need a bunch of small cars to lure people back into the dealers

Here you go.^^^^^^

Besides the introduction of the Dodge Challenger, there has been very little good news coming out of Chrysler lately. Sales are down 22% for the year due to a lineup that's still heavy on trucks and SUVs, but there may be some help on the way as soon as 2009. Chrysler CEO Bob Nardelli has hinted that a fuel efficient new vehicle(s) could debut next year, and platform sharing with other automakers would be behind the quick turn-around. Nardelli says the Auburn Hills-based automaker has re-prioritized its capital in an effort to quickly get to market the fuel-efficient vehicles that the market demands. Debuting even a single vehicle that's more fuel-efficient than anything else in the Chrysler lineup would likely have a big effect in light of the fact that its brands offer some of the least fuel-efficient lineups in the industry.

Nardelli didn't give any details as to which vehicle could arrive ahead of schedule, but speculation is that the Dodge Hornet is on the short list. The handsome Hornet (if it looks like the concept) will be based on the Nissan Versa small car platform, and was originally slated to arrive in Dodge guise in 2010. Chrysler is also rumored to be working on alliances with Tata, Fiat, and Chery, and each automaker has plenty of small, efficient vehicles at its disposal. None of those automakers has a presence in the U.S., though, so a quick turnaround on a platform that hasn't been properly crash tested doesn't seem likely.
