: More evidence Nissan will build the Dodge Hornet
Administrator 06-23-2008, 12:44 PM http://www.blogsmithmedia.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/06/hornet_%2835%29_opt.jpg (http://www.autoblog.com/photos/dodge-hornet-concept/266461/)
The Dodge Hornet (http://www.autoblog.com/2006/03/01/geneva-motor-show-dodge-hornet-concept-world-premiere/) was one of the best-looking concepts that Chrysler has produced the past few years, and thanks to a partnership with Nissan (http://www.autoblog.com/2008/04/14/breaking-chrysler-and-nissan-announce-major-supply-agreements/), the impressive-looking compact is inching closer to production. Chrysler and Nissan have yet to officially announce details of the upcoming Nissan Versa-based vehicle they'll develop together, other than to say that it'd be available as a 2010 model, but everyone is banking on a production Hornet. Chrysler vice president of international sales Thomas Hausch recently said (http://www.autoblog.com/2008/06/11/confirmed-chrysler-still-working-on-compact-hornet/) that the Pentastar is working hard on a Hornet Study, and that Chrysler would "announce something" in the near future. The linked Automotive News article is further evidence that our suspicions were correct and that Nissan, rather than Chinese automaker Chery, will build it.

dascrow 06-24-2008, 11:51 AM By the looks of this car, I think Dodge will get it right!
Administrator 06-24-2008, 11:54 AM Yes, it needs to be one of those concepts that remains pretty much unchanged from start to finish. I don't see a lot that they should change.
NOTSURE 06-24-2008, 02:14 PM Wow looks like a Mini Cooper they will hit that market hard with this car once it rolls out!

That is exactly what I was thinking. Looks like a "buffer, meaner" version of the Mini Cooper.... so you've got an aggressive look, should get good gas mileage and if they offer a higher performance version your really going to tackle a couple of different key market segments without much "tooling" differences.
STUDLEE1A 06-24-2008, 04:06 PM Im interested to see the interior
Administrator 06-24-2008, 04:29 PM I uploaded some interior pics to the album, here's one:
http://www.hornet-forum.com/forums/album.php?albumid=1&pictureid=9
I'll try to get a separate album set up for just the interior shots.
STUDLEE1A 06-24-2008, 04:38 PM looks very hard and plasticy... would like to see some softer trim on it. may or may not be comfy inside... plus crash ratings ftl?
CoriolisSTORM 06-24-2008, 04:39 PM I'm ready for this! My Cali will disappear so quickly! I've wanted something like a Mini/Smart for a while, but due to a shortage of dealers in my area, I've always been leery of one. If this were to be produced and sold as a Dodge, that'd mean dealers are everywhere and solve my problem! An SRT would be great! Or even just a straight V6 version...:D
STUDLEE1A 06-24-2008, 04:44 PM anything that isnt gutless should make this car move pretty good...
NoHemi 06-24-2008, 04:51 PM It should be very easy for Nissan to do.

STUDLEE1A 06-24-2008, 04:56 PM looks like XB ripoff!

I don't know the history of "box cars." So we can only wonder who's design it was originally. The fact that Toyota brought it to market first, make us think Toyota invented the Box.
Administrator 06-24-2008, 05:09 PM It does look similar but on a much smaller scale. The xB and cUbe are clearly "vans" almost... the Hornet is clearly a car, this picture shows a good scale ;)

but hopefully not with the same price point....should start around 11k IMO

BOOMBOOM 06-25-2008, 07:20 PM should come out with a srt model and make it with a bit bigger of a turbo then the last skittles out there. maybe 350 hp and get away from the nasty integrated turbo/mani

I think 300 would be a good point to aim for to be honest... but if someone did offer 350 I would _not_ complain ;)

with a tiny B-Segment car that I'm assuming will be FWD...look how much complaining people did about the torque steer on the CSRT4 with only 285hp.
I cant see this thing coming with more than 250 HP at the most....from the factory. They would still need to do some serious beefing up of this tiny car to handel the power....unless you want this car to fly:notallthere:
The Jetsons FTW! :alfdance:
DrewSRT 06-27-2008, 04:40 AM I'm liking the interior shots.. I hope they make this car:zlurking:
BOOMBOOM 06-28-2008, 01:15 AM yeah thats just it TORQUE STEER not horse power steer just cause you have a high hp motor does not mean you have to have ungodly high torque.... look at Honda most low torque high hp when built..... high low end torque is what gives you torque steer and oh if you can't control a little 250 torque shouldn't drive like an idiot then. oh and why couldn't we see an awd srt4 for this anyways?
BOOMBOOM 06-28-2008, 01:22 AM oh and i know what your answer is going to be what are you thinking it's a tiny B-segment car:notallthere: yeah we caught it the first time... we noticed you read it was a "tiny B-Segment car" what gave you the first clue??? it being so small?:pokeowned:
Charlie 06-28-2008, 03:44 AM I have to agree with LLIBS. We'll be lucky if they make 250. But since it's a small, hopefully light car, 250 is plenty.
BOOMBOOM 06-28-2008, 09:37 PM and yes i do want this thing to fly. put a mid wing on it a nice front lip spoiler and a top wing. it should be able to keep up with my personal jet.
