What gas mileage would you expect the Hornet to finally come in at once the final version is released.

Depending on the engine they use. If the go with the 1.8 world engine then I would guess around 30mpg in the city.

If they go with the nissan motor then I would expect around 36

I don't like the new EPA estimates. I think the old way was more true for me.

I'm going to say 26 MPG city. It's low, but that's because I think the car will be geared low. It's going to be a small heavy car with all the necessary safety features of today. It's the only way to add pep to a small engine.

I'd be surprised if the car did over 30mpg in the city, that is pretty good mpg territory... even for a Nissan motor.

I drove a Sentra for about 12 years and it was 32 MPG real world driving. I would be amazed if a non-hybrid got anywhere close to 30 MPG city only.

I'd be happy with 21-25 city.

How much of that real world driving was highway type stuff tho? That is going to raise the average... just city tho, with stop and go, its gotta be lower.

If it doesn't get good mileage, it won't sell. People are giving up bling for mileage now.

I would say it was about a 60 / 40 split highway to city. It was probably 25 MPG in the city but I never really measured. On long road trips I could get over 500 miles on the 13.25 gallon tank.

But I agree with you, it would be rare for a car to get 30 in all city driving unless it's a hybrid.

Yeah like said before it wont sell if it dont get good gas mileage.

i don't think 31 to 35 would be a very bad starting point certainly the way things are going with cafe

Sorry...I didn't read the poll correctly. I voted 31-35. I thought this was overall milage. I wouldn't expect anything over 30MPG (city), even with a 5-spd manual. I would expect something like 25 city (with any transmission).

I would certainly expect 35 MPG sticker on the highway however. Thats certainly not obtainable.

Partially true....depends on which V8 and how much extra was put into the turbo based car(assuming 4 banger). For example...I dont see a Neon or Caliber SRT-4 taking on a Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT-8 anytime soon without some mods.

Thats what we were going for (stock vs stock). Of course if you put $5,000+ into the engine you're going to beat it. But the same goes for the V8 car too!

but you have to remember i don't have 5,000 in mods i have like 1,500 and that won't buy you much for a v8 trust me i know
