Hornet safety -No B Pillar

There is no B-Pillar on the Hornet. Do you think that would make the car unsafe during a side impact? How about wear and tear? The only car I can think of is the Honda Element. How does the doors hold up over time with use? Ok, I know trucks have it too, but trucks are not unibody and a lot stronger.

Do you think it will make it to production? Or is that part of the concept?

the new mini clubman or whatever its called doesnt have a b pillar on teh passenger side either. from my experience, the b pillar is in the rear door, so that when the rear door is shut it latches to the floor and roof and then the front door latches to it like a normal door would...dunno how un-safe it is tho

in todays day-in-age with the stress on safety... it would have to be 150% safe or they wouldn't make it.

Most of the hornet's concept was to show off interior concepts. Storage Ideas as well as seating ideas; 2 or 3 of which made it into the Jeep twins [reclining rear seat, and some of the front storage ideas]..

However, I do hope most of those ideas make production, like the removable storage on the doors that are modular,
The fold-flat seats, WITH the rubber lining, because I absolutely hate scratching the crap out of the plastic in my Patriot.

so, by the looks of it the power/weight ratio would be amazing. now i gotta find a way to get shorter so i could fit in it when i buy it. :scratchhead: :jester:

Apparently the concept is slow as sh*t.. not a suprise, because they're usually built out of clay, and they're designed to just go in a straight line for 30 feet and stop on the spinner; but it sure does sound nice.. even with the BMW engine. I will take the backfire too.. :)
