Dealers taking orders?

Its way too early for dealers to start taking orders... but I would never put it past any of them to do so ;)

Anyone have a dealer anxious to get you to sign on the dotted line?

I bet most of them would say "How about a Caliber?" Chrysler need to sell something or they will close shop. The deposit on the 1st Hornet is not going to pay the electric bills.

True... but you can't ever let short term problems keep you from looking long term and that is what they are doing.

A full company turnaround is just an exciting product lineup away really.... Look at what the damn minivan did for Chrysler back in the days.

Your fortunes can turn around just that quick.

True also. However, the minivan was a revolution. Chrysler built everything off the K-Car platform, so they were able to keep jobs in the USA.

The problem with all these new partnerships is that it involves other companies. Any idea where the Hornet will be built? Mexico again? China? With U.S. sourced parts? Most likely not.

We are going off topic here.

I think the SRT lineup is doing good for Mopar, and they're going to see a very positive return, because it's getting a buzz around the product itself. I know a lot of people who originally heard about the challenger because of it being referred by SRT, and have now expressed interest in buying a cheaper model like the R/T, but they wouldn't have heard about it if it wasn't for the buzz around the SRT division.

Any idea on what size engine the base model will have and what the rsvp would be?

The concept is a 1.6L supercharged. Since Nissan is going to build it, I'm sure there are lots of 1.6L or 1.8L around. Yeah....it's sporty looking, but the fact is the Hornet need to be very good on MPG. It's the only way to balance out the hungry Hemi on the CAFE game.

Aftermarket will take care of those with a need for speed.

I believe the supercharged motor in the MINI is a bit smaller, so we should be able to have power output at least equivalent or higher with the Nissan motor. Just a hunch.

i doubt the will go the SC route. They can get better mpg out of an NA or a turbo engine. SC will be a thing of the past....as you can see by Chevy switching to a turbo setup on their new Colbalt SS.:notsigned:

I'll only buy a Hornet if they offer a SRT-4 version.

I'd probably go with either version if I needed a smaller car with good gas mileage. But for sure an SRT4 version no matter what I needed :)

I wonder how much they are going to ask for an SRT version?

I want to see them use the 1.8 Liter World Engine in it. Maybe the 1.6 in the cheaper trim, and the 1.8 Liter in the R/T version? Perhaps a turbo-charged 1.8 Liter as the SRT version? Would be a great competitor to MINI and the Honda Fit performance cars.

I agree that this car needs to get at least 34MPG. I'd like to see 36MPG with the 5-speed manual and 1.8 liter engine. I'll snatch one up in a heart beat.

i think they should jsut drop the srt4 motor (2.4) in them and go have some fun. Yea it doesnt get the best gas mileage but if you keep your foot out of it and it out of boost you can easily get 25 mpg. but thatsjustme im not all that worried about gas... Considering i came from a mustang GT im floating in gas in my srt4 lol
