: First to turbo?

I would imagine that a Dodge Hornet with a turbo would be a pretty exciting vehicle to drive. Certainly would not be required in the first year of introduction, but possibly an SRT4 model after a year or so could be offered?

I'd really like to see that.

would also be interesting to see if they did go with an SRT build up, if they would keep the 2.4 platform or redesign. The hornet would be the car to go with considiereing seems to be stiring up so much excitement...

cause the engine would be heavier than the car :D

They are looking for fuel consumption. The 4 banger will be way better. Id like for them to stick with the 2.4T if they do that and not outsource the damn thing to nissan.

and they did produce an SRT-6. It is a supercharged 3.2 in the crossfire. it is an MB motor, and i can only imagine that it is ridiculously fast.

the 2.4T will be WAY to powerful for this car to handel....

I'd be looking down the lines of a 1.8T pumping out around 200 FWHP

I dunno, i think the 2.4T would be fine....maybe down to a 2.0T. I just hate to see a nissan motor go in this thing.

Am i the only one who thinks it looks like a scion Xa??

Looks like it could be a sweet contender to ride like a mini and kick ass like an SRT.

SPCorBUST
06-24-2008, 11:28 PM
thats what i'm hoping. handle like a mini and have the power of teh srt on command.

hopefully its price pointed against it too... i think the versa is longer than the mini so hopefully they can shorten it up a bit

Nelson
06-24-2008, 11:36 PM
I don't see why not a 2.4, as long as the tranny and axles were built to handle it. I don't imagine the engine bay being very much bigger then an NSRT, so it would make it interesting. But it would tear down the strip for sure.

Nelson
06-24-2008, 11:38 PM
I couldn't imagine dropping a DCR motor into a car that size though. It'd pucker ya up, that's for sure. Needs to be rwd atleast though :D I would trade in the NSRT for sure.

Lets be fair, you can never have enough power :) If VW can squeeze a V10 into their GTI concept -- then Dodge could put a V8 in this if they wanted too :)

I wouldn't mind if it had a Nissan engine in it. Especially a turbo one..think back to the early 90's Japan only Nissan Pulsar GTi-R.

Nissan has made a ton of awesome turbo powered vehicles over the years.... they are no stranger to turbo power.

I am going to have to agree with Admin on this one! You can never have too much power. It is like having too much money.

I mean Dodge put what, where???

But I would hands down buy a AWD Forced Induction Hornet. That would be so much fun!!! FWD is just too sketchy for my taste.

I'll volunteer for that duty. The SRT6 that is. Used ones are a lot more affordable than the SLK.

Just put a smaller pulley on the huffer and you're in the 11's. RWD, LSD, 18" wheels, luxury interior, what's not to like? But automatic (Autostick) only.

Back on topic.... I would buy the Hornet without the turbo if it turns out to be well balanced and fun to toss around. Maybe I'm not making a popular comparison but it reminds me of an old style Civic SI in general concept. If the Hornet turns out as good or better, Dodge will sell a ton of them.

I think they should keep the 2.4l theme going. It has been dominating in it's class since '03. The Caliber SRT-4 2.4l puts out 285hp, stock. Even though it is heavy, that's still a lot of ponies for the price you're paying for this car. I say keep the 2.4l.

that's the reason why i like the NSRT4 as well...people trash talk it, and it makes it even sweeter when it walks their super duper v-tak honda
