If Nissan does build the Hornet, what are our drivetrain options?
Will they use an existing Nissan engine or perhaps the GEMA engine?

I'd say either 4-spd Automatic or CVT2. I would point more toward CVT. I know this will piss some people off, but its not that bad of a transmission. A lot of the people who put it down have never even driven a vehicle with one in it. They just "assume" its bad because its "different". It actually works pretty well. If anyone is concerned about acceleration...well I seriously doubt Dodge's first things on the agenda is acceleration (performance).

There is a couple of Nissan engines they could use. I would like to see them use the 1.8 Liter World Engine Chrysler released for the Caliber.

I would like to see a turbo variant. In all honesty if there isn't a high performance version of the Hornet I have no interest in it.

I would bet that if it's badged as a Dodge Hornet, they will not make an SRT-4 version of it.

If it's a Chrysler something, then possibly an SRT version.

I'm thinking this because it would match what they did with the SRT-8's.
One Dodge version, one Chrysler version, one Jeep version. I know the Maggy also had an SRT-8 version, but I think they are trying to avoid competing with themself.

so by calling it a Chrysler Hornet instead of a Dodge Hornet it won't be competing with the CSRT4? I understand what you are saying and all but seriously...:notallthere:

The HSRT4 would be smaller than the CSRT4 and might be an early stepping stone into the SRT world for customers, two different vehicles, besides theres also the whole thing of having a Jeep Compass AND a Jeep Patriot...:notallthere:

I hear ya. But my thought was just comparing it to what they've done in the past. 1 car market, per division. Dodge gets 1 full size, 1 mid, 1 small, 1 sub. The catch... I am theorizing... is that the SRT group only gets 1 SRT-8, 1 SRT-6, and 1 SRT-4 per division.

Whatever they do, I would like to see an SRT version... something that competes against the Mini Cooper S. It seems like that sub-compact performance market is pretty open right now.

Ya, it wasn't an attack on you...They should do both! Have a Mini competitor (chrysler) and a cheap one (Dodge) and then SRT-ize one (or both) of them :rocker:
